The band was born in a smoky shack in a Mississippi bayou. After the founding guitar player was claimed by Beelzebub in a deal gone wrong and the original drummer spontaneously combusted, the first semi-permanent line-up was formed featuring a kazoo player. When that failed the band bowed to convention and started jamming with bass, drums, guitars, keyboards and a lot of harmonies.
In truth, Soulfire is an Arlington, Va.-based band that has been together in various forms for more than 20 years. At times featuring up to 11 musicians on stage, the band includes horns, percussion and keyboards in addition to the usual array of bass, drums and guitars. On occasion, the band has been known to perform with a gospel choir and even classical instruments.
The band’s repertoire includes over one thousand songs ranging from the foundational rock of Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley to the acid musings of the Dandy Warhols. We play the British Invasion, a little country, funk, dance rock, classic American rock, "alternative,” and Beatles -- always the Beatles.
Soulfire has played a variety of venues in the Washington, D.C., area including the Wharf's Summer Concert Series, Madam’s Organ, Potomac River Farm, Island Time Bar & Grill, Westover Beer Garden, Ballston Local, Barrel Oak Winery, Paradise Springs Winery, Potter’s House, Craftworx Taproom, Springfield Country Club and Quantico Marine Base. We look forward to playing for you!
